Claude F. Woolery, 1914-2003, Sedalia

Claude F. Woolery, 89, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

He was born July 29, 1914, in Otterville, a son of Milton and Elisa Hopkins Woolery. On April 16, 1938, in Sedalia, he was married to Ruth E. Sampson, who survives of the home.

Mr. Woolery was raised in Otterville. He moved to Sedalia at an early age. He worked for the Ivan Berry Feed Store and later worked at Pittsburgh Corning. He retired in 1976 from the 12 Mile Road District. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Also surviving are a son, Claude E. Woolery, of Sedalia; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by a son, Richard Allen Woolery; two daughters, Evelyn Irene Woolery and Geraldine Louise Woolery; three brothers, Roy, Kenneth and his twin brother, Clarence; and a sister, Jewel Paxton.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crown Hill Cemetery, with Elder Leo Harrison officiating. Pallbearers will be Duane Woolery, Russell Woolery, Brian Woolery, Nathan Woolery, Brad Pistel and Matt Roper. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Ewing-Schutte & Semler Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
